After all the rubbish in the press about health risks to people on the surface, the US has successfully tested its missile space defence system by taking out one of its own satellites. The amazing regularity with which the BBC and many other media outlets have mentioned the imminent threat to human life and the heroic actions of the Americans in order to save us just makes a joke of journalism. This is not an ancient satellite it was launched in 2006 and no doubt built to high standards and after having planned for just such an possibility.

Reports from inside the pentagon have said that witnesses observed and explosion most likely that of the fuel tank having been destroyed although the US is yet to confirm this officially. Who reckons that Russia is going to have a satellite malfunction in the next month?
