It would appear that they are just waiting for the excuse they need to allow American and Israel forces to take out Hezbollah. The Lebanese government which is massively pro-American and even pro-Israeli will be happy to get rid of  Hezbollah and give it more of a grip over Lebanon and the people there. Whatever happens in Lebanon politically the government has Carte-Blanche to blame it all on Hezbollah.

In an attempt to appeal to regional opinion the Lebanon PM does agree that Israel was the most likely culprit for the car bomb attack in Syria although he was unable to officially confirm this. With Lebanon on the brink of civil war and the government attempting to blame everything on Hezbollah, Syria and Iran you can see that should things go that way the government is pathing the way for American and possibly even Israeli assistance in putting down any such rebellion.
